那天在朋友車上聽到這首老歌, 我說:[這首我喜歡].他說:[應該是,大部分的女生都會喜歡].我說:[一首歌最初讓人驚艷是旋律,再來是否耐聽而成為經典就要看歌詞有沒有深度,內容感動人的程度了.]
音樂響起的那段薩克斯風讓人不得不豎起耳朵(你分得出小喇叭和薩克斯風的不同嗎?).他說這首歌是舞會必播的慢歌(可以想像他曾有過的年輕歲月),而我大學時不是混舞會的,只是當下被旋律吸引住而已.以前沒仔細探究歌詞,只覺得是首好聽的情歌(此時腦海突然浮現淡水一個上坡街道場景
).朋友是老鷹合唱團的歌迷,很多歌都能琅琅上口,在他邊唱邊解釋歌詞之下我才更了解歌詞內容.
這應該是三角戀的故事,女主角正面臨愛情難題,"the one you love"或"the one who loves you"(唱歌的應該是那位who loves you,我猜.而歌詞寫著的電話那頭應該是the one you love).朋友問如果是我,我會選哪一方?我說最好the one既是loves you 也是 you love.(回答很外交官式吧!因為此刻我不想花腦筋去想這個千古無解之解.<以前就有人說我的回答很外交官,其實我不是迴避問題,只是不想傷腦筋>)
拜科技所賜,上youtube欣賞了兩個版本的MV,舊版是老鷹合唱團雙主唱之一Glenn Frey,聲音富磁性極具魅力,伴奏是薩克斯風和鋼琴.新版是杜德偉Alex演唱的新編曲.我個人比較喜歡舊版,覺得Glenn Frey唱起來比較有感情投入,彷彿他就是那位 the one who loves you".而杜德偉的歌聲聽起來就像旁觀者.
如果我的朋友是這位女主角,我會勸她選擇the one who loves you.但是假設我是那位女主角,我會無所適從,無解吧!
